Couponing 101
Searching the net for the term coupon,
Google came up with this description:
“a voucher
entitling the holder to a discount off a particular product.”
Indeed, used wisely, it can save
you money in the long run by cutting a piece off the total price of an item you
want to buy or even forgo shipping expenses altogether (as in the
case when shopping online).
But how exactly do coupons
work? And are you ripping off stores when you use them?

Save Money While Shopping Online
With today's technological
advances, it's not surprising that more and more people are flocking
to the internet to satisfy their shopping needs. It's convenient,
easily accessible, and at times (if done right), can save you a bit of
money. Options are also endless as you get to enjoy everything
that the web has to offer.

The Nostalgia Machine
I'm not exactly sure but I've been having bad cases of nostalgia for the past days now. Be it TV shows or products I loved when I was younger -- it just washes over me in huge waves.
I think you would all agree that the easiest way to enjoy a nice dose of nostalgic musings from your yesteryear would be listening to old songs. Pop, rock, rnb, funk -- whatever keeps you grooving.
YouTube makes it easier to search for those goodies; but for those who want to browse by year these songs hit the airwaves, there's The Nostalgia Machine.

PH | SUN Broadband Internet Settings for Android Tablets
We're quite lucky as our location here in Cavite has a good enough SUN Broadband internet signal, hence we decided to subscribe to unlimited postpaid package. There are instances, however, that I would need to have internet access in our Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, too, for messaging, playing games and whatnot.
Not wishing to buy a wireless dongle router (or something to that effect), I simply switch and transfer our Sun Broadband Internet sim from its dongle device directly to the tablet. The first time I did this, the tablet didn't automatically connect to the net. And upon calling customer service, was informed that I had to physically drop by a Sun Cellular shop to have their people manually configure our device.
It was totally ridiculous! Most especially since what their staff did was so simple that I could have easily done it at home if they were kind enough to have provided me with the settings through the phone from the start.
So in the interest of saving other Sun Broadband internet users the hassle of having their devices configured pa in a SUN shop, listed below are brief instructions on how to get your broadband internet working for your android devices.

Things We Forget: Sticky Notes Left in Public Places
A Singapore-based blog whose posts I've been following for almost 2 years now, thingsweforget.blogspot.com is a simple site that shows inspirational quotes written and drawn on sticky pads which are then placed all over Singapore (and beyond).

Helpful Blogging Tips from Blogger Sentral
I've been an e-mail subscriber of the Blogger Sentral website for a while now. It's a very useful site that provides useful information on how to fully utilize the features of your blog. I, for one, make no claims in being an IT whiz. In fact, there's a term I label myself as -- I am techno-ignorant, for want of a better term.
So you can just imagine how useful the tips at Blogger Sentral have been to me.

PicaPic's Retro Game & Watch Electronic Handheld Games
Children of the 80s, and perhaps the early 90s, would be all too well aware of Game & Watch electronic handheld games. In a time when the internet was still in its early stages and computers were big, heavy boxes of equipment you use at home only, these small handheld consoles served as the unofficial time wasters of our youth.

Getting Around Singapore
NOTE: I'm back! Thank you all for understanding. Anyway, as they say, on with the show... J
Hay! The life of a Filipino in a foreign country. Very sad and I'm dreadfully suffering from a major case of homesickness, but you've gotta move on, right?
Anyway, I wanted to do this very quick post on how to get around Singapore before anything else since I figure this would be extremely useful for a lot of our kababayans (countrymen) who will be visiting the Lion City soon. Plus, it will make a quick reference point for all the future entries I'll be posting about, too.
(Please note, though, that this and all my other succeeding posts about Singapore and life here are based on a foreigner's -- a.k.a little old me -- experiences. And since I am still fairly new here, I may misunderstand some customs and rules but will definitely edit any future posts for corrections, if any are found. J)
Ok so on to our regular programming...

Finding my Own Voice Through Blogging
Everyone is given a voice on the web. It's very refreshing, really, since information is accessible to everyone regardless of location. Aside from the The Average Jane blog being used as a stress reliever for me, it is also my way of sharing my experiences that I think other people would be interested in knowing too. And with technology as it is today, it's so easy now to build a website.
Over the couple of years I started this blog and from the online friends I've met, I've learned that there are a number of considerations you have to take when deciding to create your own website, most of which, admittedly I overlooked when starting the blog.

Making Money Through Ebay and Article Writing
Choosing not to work for the time being while waiting for our Singapore dependent passes to be approved, was a tough decision I had to make. Although I am quite thankful I am able to see the Little One in her first few months of life, I am and will forever be a career woman and the idea of not being able to work and earn my own keep frightens me.
So when I came back to Manila, I decided look for a few ways on how to make money online just to ease off the boredom and break the monotony of life.

The Average Jane Blog Calling Cards
Being in Human Resources requires you to meet and mingle with a lot of people. As fun and interesting as it sounds, the mind, however, is a very fickle mistress and one thing that annoys me big time is when I forget a person's name just a few minutes after being introduced, which is why I am extremely grateful for business cards.
Making sure I had a small stock of them handy inside my wallet became a ritual I had to complete before conducting an interview or attending a corporate event. Needless to say, now that I am temporarily out of corporate life (for the time being anyway), I no longer have the pleasure of carrying my own set of business cards.
When I first started The Average Jane blog, I never had an inkling that I would be needing them for this too.

Gift Giving the Saizen Way (1 of 2)
Warning: Picture heavy post J
I love Saizen! Who wouldn't?
Selling affordable and unique items, Saizen is every crafter's/cook's/techie's/athlete's/etc. dream come true when it comes to stuff related to their interests and hobbies. And the beauty of it all? Items are priced at Php85 only!
This being one of my favorite stores, I just knew I had to feature their items in a blog entry. So e-mailing their marketing people beforehand, I was thankfully given the go-signal to go photo-crazy at their Robinson's Place Manila branch a few weeks ago. The timing couldn't have been more perfect as Christmas is but a few days away.
(NOTE: I'd like to thank Ms. Angela, Ms. Josette, Ms. Anna and the wonderful staff of Saizen Robinson's Place Manila for the allowing me to takea few a lot of photos to share with you. J)

PR: OFW Remittances at an All-time High: Social Remittances as New Currency from Global Pinoys
Remittances from Filipinos working overseas are at an all-time high. And no, it’s not just because they’re sending back US dollars, Saudi Riyals, Euros or Japanese Yen; but because our modern-day heroes are sending back what’s known as social remittances.

GPB11: The Ones that Got Away
NOTE: The Global Pinoy Bazaar 2011 (GPB11) series is a number of posts regarding merchants and sellers; and their unique and unusual creations, of which I had the utmost pleasure of discovering at Yabang Pinoy's Global Pinoy Bazaar 2011 (read a short introduction of my bazaar experience here.) J
SunnyToast described it best that tiangges leave you with empty wallets. And I couldn't agree more. J
And so as expected, there were a number of things I found really at interesting the Global Pinoy Bazaar 2011 but was not able to purchase due to financial constraints.

I suffer, albeit not officially diagnosed, from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Nothing as bad as Adrian Monk's, mind you, but just enough to be able to live in an above average organized world. I don't mind it as much as I seem to be able to work better and move faster in this state.
My mild case of OCD also extends to my leisure activities. Take, for instance, my most recent trip to Yabang Pinoy's Global Pinoy Bazaar 2011 last Saturday. In order to keep on budget and to maximize my time, I actually went through the GPB facebook page and located the sites of the merchants so I could list down possible items I wanted to buy. And that was were I discovered Izzo Shop.
But it wasn't just the funky name that called my attention. It was also because of this...
