Organics on Parade: Human♥Nature

I've always admired companies with a great social responsibility program -- a belief that has been distinctively instilled in me by my former company.  Having seen first hand how much a corporation can do to uplift the lives of others, I now truly understand that resolving the country's problems takes the combined effort of each and every citizen.

Combine that program with organic, natural products at an affortable price, and you've got one great enterprise that will surely last a long, long time.

That being said, is it any wonder why HumanNature is quickly catching the attentions of the average Filipino consumer?

TreeHugger: Saving the World One Writing Implement at a Time

We have been taught the importance of recycling in order to reduce the trash filling up our landfills.  And while we may still have a long way to go before we can truly be called an Eco-friendly nation, it is quite refreshing to note that there are companies who are taking that extra step in making our country more earth conscious.

TreeHugger is definitely one of them.

Organics on Parade: ORYSPA

I would like to think that we are becoming a more conscious nation.  What is usually considered taboo can now be explained by the sciences.  We are more aware of the environment and the factors that affect it.  We are even more perceptive of the future and what may happen if we continue on this dangerous path.

This mindset has even invaded our fashion sense.  We are now more into items -- whether cosmetics, clothing or whatnot -- made from natural ingredients and free from harmful chemicals.

Enter ORYSPA, a relatively new brand that aims to educate consumers about the benefits of beauty products made from rice bran.

Ballers with Style: Freestyle Slap Watch Ballers

I remember those slap-on bracelets of years ago.   During my elementary school days, never would you find a single girly wrist without these on.  As such, red, swollen carpi became a directly linked fashion statement (much to the chagrin of our well-meaning parents.)

Fast track to the present day.  At this, my 29 years of age and in the corporate world, these slap-on bracelets would have been a fashion accessory that just won't cut it in my line of work.  I doubt if our people would still have respected me if I came to the office wearing a colorful piece of silicone rubber on my wrist.  Imagine attending a lunch meeting with a client with a doggy slappy on?!   ¡Que horror!  And definitely not cool!

But that all changed when I saw this...

So cute!

Be Healthy in the Most Delicious Way with Healthy First Carrot Juice & Fruit Blends

I've always tried to eat healthy.  It's not just an "in", seasonal thing for our family.  At a very young age, Bro and I have been exposed to the importance of eating fresh fruits and veggies.  In High School, while our friends were enjoying white bread, we were having the wheat, multi-grain variety.

I was never really a picky eater when it came to vegetables, however, I never could grasp the concept of a veggie drink.  In my mind, a vegetable is solid food to be chewed, not a liquid to be drank.  And having had a most unfortunate experience with a popular foreign carrot drink that my tita swore tasted really good but was so not appealing to my palate and left me retching out the window, I have hence sworn off veggie drinking forever.

That is until I came across this...

Charity Blogging for Cancer Awareness

Seldom have I heard of a family who has not greatly suffered due to cancer.  Be it having lost a dear family member or they themselves are suffering from the illness.

But what exactly is cancer?  And is there a way to prevent it?

I Came, I Saw, I Blogged at Blogapalooza!

*Warning.  Picture heavy post.  =)

The first ever Blogapalooza, held last September 17, 2011 at the Top Shelf, Fully Booked in Fort Bonifacio was, in my opinion, one successful event!  This fun-filled fantastic afternoon was stormed by a number of sponsors and ever eager bloggers meeting up, exchanging ideas and business cards.

Here are just a few of the highlights...

I am honored to be a member of the Blogapalooza community.  =)

Amber Golden Chain of Restaurants

People in the south have most probably known of Amber ever since it started operations in 1988.  What started out as a small carinderia catering mostly to taxi drivers have evolved into a food enterprise like no other with 5 branches to date located all around the Metro.  And all this started simply because of their line of pancit noodle dishes and pastas.

Cupcakes by Sonja

Not many people know this about me but I, too, am suffering from an addiction.  It's nothing to worry about though, as there are millions of us in the same boat.

I'm talking about sugar addiction!  When the dreaded sweet tooth comes knocking, well, it's definitely an itch you just have to scratch.

So while in Serendra one fine sunny Saturday morning, I finally found myself with enough time to drop by Cupcakes by Sonja to figure out why other sweet tooth sufferers like me are so obsessed with them.

Manual Photography Made Easy

One of my main goals is to try to use my beloved DSLR camera's manual settings as often as possible since I believe it makes for great practice and better creative shots.  And although I did attend a photography workshop, there are still times when a review is in order now and again.

And so it was with great surprise that I was able to come across Living in the Stills, a tumbler-based blog dealing in photography.

And boy!  Was I so happy I did since I was able to find this...

How to Disable the Right-click Function on your Blog

Technology has made our lives so much easier. However, with this advancement, higher cases of plagiarism has also become quite rampant. Take for instance the plight of all bloggers who, after spending hours on end thinking up of creative entries for their blogs, later find their work blatantly copied by some lazy criminal.

Have a Delightful Lunch at Cafe Mary Grace

Who hasn't tasted, or at least heard of, a Mary Grace ensaymada?  That fluffy, cheesy and oh-so-delicious delicacy that has graced hundreds of Filipino tables regardless of whether it was during special, grand occasions or simple, everyday celebrations.

Our family loves this particular branded pastry to bits, but who knew they could also churn out other non-dessert and savory meal items?  And so when we first came across their concept restaurant at Serendra -- Cafe Mary Grace -- we just knew that we had to try it out.

Jay Asher's Thirteen Reasons Why

I'm not really in the habit of purchasing Young Adult fiction novels, mainly because most of the themes involved are not to my liking.  I am still in awe at how much sex and violence are infused in a teen book nowadays, such a far cry from the novels of my generation (i.e Sweet Valley series, Sweet Dreams, etc.)  Guess I have yet to recover from the shock.  Hehehe!

But for this book, I am more than willing to make an exception.

FAB FIND: Hello Kitty Magic Apple Keychain

I wasn't really a fan of Hello Kitty.  Oh sure, I think she's cute and I'd buy the occasional item or 2.  But even since becoming a mom, I find myself looking at her in a different light.  Heck!  It's bordering on the fanatic since baby, who isn't even 3 months old, already has a number of items with this cat's famous mug on them.  Hehehe!

And lookie at what hubby recently gave us all the way from Singapore... a Hello Kitty magic apple keychain!

How to Apply for a Philippine Postal ID Card

I've said it once and I'll say it again, woe to the newly married woman who has, for years, have gotten so used to her surname only to find that a single (wedding) day, will change this familiarity forever.

I have to admit, it was not easy for me to adapt to a new surname, due mainly for professional reasons.  Throughout my profession career, I have been known by my maiden name and to have to inform all my contacts of the change was, well, too tiresome.  And so I decided to go the hypenated route and I eventually ended up with 2 surnames.  Such was the compromise!  =)
