Waxing Eloquent About Singapore's The Connoisseur Concerto (TCC)

GIVEAWAY ALERT!  Get a chance to win travel-sized Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries from their Avocado, Olive & Basil collection.  Visit this post (link here) for more details.

The Connoisseur Concerto, TCC for short, will always have a special place in this foodie's heartThe food, whether savory or sweet, is always divine.  And the service?  Simply outstanding.

And it's because of those 2 special reasons (is there really anything else?) that has made TCC one of our favorite restaurants here in Singapore, playing host to a number of important events in our still early marriage and family life.  In fact, it was in one of their branches that the Husband and I celebrated the announcement of the Little One's presence (in my tummy) with a quiet and intimate lunch.  Another one introduced the then 11-month old Little One to her favorite dessert of all time -- cheesecake.  A number of other branches played host to cozy dates and warm family get-togethers.  So it's really no surprise that I'll be featuring them in a post, albeit I should have done so earlier.

Snoopy Dog House Kiddie Ride in Tampines Mall, Singapore

GIVEAWAY ALERT!  Get a chance to win travel-sized Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries from their Avocado, Olive & Basil collection.  Visit this post (link here) for more details.

The Little One loves kiddie rides.  Well, not exactly be on them while they're moving (she's scared stiff, in fact); but she does love sitting on them for hours on end.  A little corny but she's a baby (technically a toddler) so we just take it easy with her fears.

Still, that doesn't stop her from sitting on each and every kiddie ride she sees in the mall.  It's such a simple pleasure (and doesn't even cost us a thing) that we've indulged her fascination far too many times.

Out of all the kiddie rides the Little One has set her derriere on, this, by far, is my favorite among the bunch.

A Snoopy dog house kiddie ride!  How cool is that?  It's just like being the World War I flying ace for only S$2.00 (Php66.00) a ride.

McDonald's Singapore's Hello Kitty Fairy Tales Plushie on Display

GIVEAWAY ALERT!  Get a chance to win travel-sized Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries from their Avocado, Olive & Basil collection.  Visit this post (link here) for more details.

I posted about McDonald's here in Singapore having a Hello Kitty plushie promotion a few weeks ago (read my full post about it in this here link).  And boy, was I surprised at how high my viewership numbers for that particular entry grew in only a few hours after posting.  Pretty amazing.  So I guess it is safe to assume that a lot of people are interested in this thing.

Like all other female bodies in Singapore, the Little One and I too, both went gaga over these cuties.  So here's a small peek at what you'll get for S$4.60 (Php151.80*), plus purchase of a value meal too, of course.

GIVEAWAY ALERT! The Average Jane's Big Move Back Home (Plus a Giveaway, Too)!

Well, we've finally done it.  We've made the big move back to the Philippines!  So expect my future posts to be reverting back to anything RP-located (will come in a few months, though, as I still have a number of backlogs about Singapore to contend to).

While we're talking about transitions, I've also noticed that it's been some time since I last hosted a blog giveaway (more than a year to be exact).  So I think it's high time to have one again, don't you think?

So for this giveaway, here's what I'll be raffling off...

Ah Loy Thai: Thai Food in Singapore

Aside from Japanese, another popular type of Asian cuisine here is Thai.  In fact, there are tons of restaurants serving good, quality Thai fare here.  Although I have to admit, it isn't the type of meal I'd usually crave (not much of a fan of spicy food), I do, however, make a few exceptions.

We used to live near Anchorpoint Shopping Centre, a popular outlet mall here in the Lion City (read my full post about them in this here link).  Now aside from the shopping, we'd visit this place often because of a stall at the basement food court selling great, tasty Thai dishes (their pineapple rice is the best!.)  We, however, moved to a new place and now live far away from there that a spur-of-the-moment visit isn't possible anymore.

So when the husband suggested we try Ah Loy Thai, a Thai restaurant located in a mall near our new place, I just couldn't resist the lure of having pineapple rice again.

Kids Go Wild About AMAZONIA Singapore

I like the malls here in Singapore since most of them try to think of all members of the family when it comes to entertainment.  Anyone with babies and toddlers in tow knows how tiring it is to entertain a bored, cranky little one when on a shopping trip.  So it's really great that a lot of shopping centers here provide safe, clean, free-for-use outdoor play areas for their petite guests.

But if you're that type who wants your kids having fun inside the mall with access to ac (and doesn't mind paying a little), then AMAZONIA is a good option for you.

What's the Deal with Hokkaido Ice Cream? (A Singapore Food Post)

One notices the tons of Japanese food places here in Singapore.  From sushi to ramen restaurants (among others), there's just an abundance of them here.  But what really caught my interest is Hokkaido ice cream.

So on one particular trip to Ngee Ann City mall, one of my ultimate favorite shopping centers along Orchard Road (more on that in a future post), curiosity finally got the best of us, so the Husband and I bought 2 scoops at Azabu Sabo Hokkaido Ice-Cream.

Psy Does it Again: The Gangnam Style Singing and Dancing Doll

You know you've got it made when you have a doll of your image and likeness offered for sale to the masses.  So whether it is officially sanctioned or not (you never know with these mass-produced toys popping up everywhere), you just know it was only a matter of time before this came out -- a Gangnam Style doll.

Katipunans Filipino Mini-mart

When I first came to live here in Singapore in 2010, we were quite fortunate to have a small grocery store operating inside our estate.  Better still, they also carry a number of Filipino food and beauty products for sale.  It sure eased up on my feelings of homesickness (that time) a bit.  The knowledge that I could just as easily have longganisa (sweet and spicy sausage) or tocino (a type of sweet, fried thick-cut jerky) anytime was a relief since it was a pleasure I didn't have give up when I moved here.

Now the Husband and I have moved to different places since (for some reason or another); and now we find ourselves in a new place where the in-house grocery store, sadly, does not carry any Filipino food products.  ¡Qué horror!

Good thing, though, we stumbled upon this little gem conveniently located at Tampines Central 1, just a bus ride away from our place.

McDonald's Singapore's Sausage McGriddles with Egg: the Best A.M. Breakfast Indulgence (Plus Hello Kitty Fairy Tale Plushies)

When in Manila (sorry, former WIM write here.  Hehehe!), my (and the Little One's) McDonald's breakfast item of choice is an egg McMuffin.  But here in Singapore, a McDonald's sausage McGriddles with egg is the only way to go.
