<div>
Although the island is connected to the mainland via a road bridge, visitors can also opt to travel by monorail, walk up using the pedestrian boardwalk, or via the <b><a href="https://store.sentosa.com.sg/main/attractions/singapore-cable-car-sky-networ/110#!/" target="_blank">Sentosa Line cable car sky network</a></b>.</div>

Admittedly, even though I've been to Sentosa a number of times already, I've only taken the cable car twice. And so without further adieu, I present an aerial view of Sentosa from the cable car sky network. </div>

Another fad I've noticed here in Singapore is the rise in popularity of Korean snacks. Sure entertainment, cosmetics, and fashion have been prevalent here even before; but nowadays, I find that their snacks have also created quite a huge following, with most major department stores carrying all types of Korean goodies.<br />

What's not to like? They're chocolatey with a colourful shell. Truly addictive! I'm a fan!<br />
<br />
So imagine my surprise when I came across this bottle while grocery shopping -- a <b><span style="color: blue;">chocolate m&m's drink</span></b>!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<a name='more'></a>What the heck! Of course, I'm in! So off I went, paid for my purchase and rushed home to try it out.<br />

<br />
So what exactly does this taste like? I'm not sure if it's just me, but it didn't remind me of an m&m. It tasted just like any ordinary chocolate milk drink but with a slightly thicker consistency (similar to a milkshake).<br />
<br />
Still worth a try though if you don't paying the S$4.90 (Php170) price tag. Other chocolate milk brands here sell for way less than this and comes in bigger servings (case in point, a 830ml Meiji chocolate milk bottle retails for only S$3.05. This m&m's drink came in a 350ml only). Still worth a try, anyway. 😁<br />

Case in point, <a href="https://www.chirchir.com.sg/" target="_blank"><b>Chir Chir 치르치르</b></a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4T6T_epyegrwTRpmHgMh7Afyicdcnyf75DYlyjvw3NcWeTNPc-euUxNlYfV24BZMCuvdnO8ONHvhFYY7dsPaMNqiladaQYumCloiYwOmTyzOq1Rpxcf36LqcM57xw1qabcPUYpuHaUsyq/s1600/Chir_Chir_Singapore_Korean_Chicken+%25284%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="799" data-original-width="563" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4T6T_epyegrwTRpmHgMh7Afyicdcnyf75DYlyjvw3NcWeTNPc-euUxNlYfV24BZMCuvdnO8ONHvhFYY7dsPaMNqiladaQYumCloiYwOmTyzOq1Rpxcf36LqcM57xw1qabcPUYpuHaUsyq/s400/Chir_Chir_Singapore_Korean_Chicken+%25284%2529.jpg" width="281" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Pronounced "Chi-Re Chi-Re", <b><span style="color: blue;">Chir Chir 치르치르</span></b> is a Seoul-based restaurant known for their delicious chicken.<br />
<br />
The Family had lunch here by accident (opting to dine here as the original place we were hoping to have our meal in was crazy crowded); but as they say, there is always a silver lining under every dark cloud. And our experience with <b><span style="color: blue;">Chir Chir 치르치르</span></b> was surprisingly pleasant; a true silver lining.<br />
<br />
First off, you will have to understand that <b><span style="color: blue;">Chir Chir 치르치르 </span></b>markets itself to the younger crowd (ahem... not saying I am no longer a part of this demographic 😂) and their menu clearly shows this. <br />
<br />
Apparently in Korea, the youngsters prefer the casual dining experience of having chicken and beer, a culture they call <i>Chimaek</i> (<i>chi</i> for chicken and <i>maek</i> from <i>maekju</i>/beer), hence at <b><span style="color: blue;">Chir Chir 치르치르,</span></b> chicken and their beer/cocktails are the stars of this show.<br />
<br />
But as we are (relatively) "young" parents of a 6-year old kid, we opt to forego the beer and instead have rice and of course, veggies to turn it into a more appropriate child-friendly meal.<br />
<br />
Our corn salad was a bit measly in size, but it did in come under a promotion (only added a few dollars for it). ☺<br />
<br />

<br />
Off to one of the main courses, of which we had <i><span style="color: blue;">Honey Butter Chicken</span></i> (S$28.90/Php982.60). A dish of boneless chicken pieces that comes with potato wedges, rice cakes (!) and a special honey butter sauce.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The menu warns that this is highly addictive. And I would have to agree. It is delightfully sweet and savoury at the same time. Pair it with the fried rice cakes, and it is pure heaven. <br />
<br />
Next we have their <i><span style="color: blue;">Garlic Roasted Chicken</span></i> (S$32.90/Php1,118.60) which came with a baked potato, egg and spicy garlic sauce.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The chicken pieces here are bigger than the first dish (and isn't boneless). It is tender and juicy and accompanied with the potato, makes for one hearty meal.<br />
<br />
The menu itself states that their dishes are good enough for 2 people, but believe me, it was not so. We were a party of 3 adults and 1 child and a platter would have been more than enough for us. But I'm not complaining as it was quite an enjoyable meal. 😃<br />
<br />
Will definitely eat here again!<br />

Similar to their Kaya toast set, this one comes with your choice of drink (<i>kopi</i> -- coffee with condensed and evap milk -- all the way!) and 2 soft-boiled eggs. A set costs S$7.10 (Php241.40).<br />
<br />
Yummy! Even the Daughter is fan. 😃<br />

The Daughter has started playing with Barbie dolls and as a consequence, has started bugging me for clothes and accessories for her little friends.<br />
<br />
Now any parent of a little girl knows how ridiculously expensive Barbie doll clothes are. In fact, a simple dress and shoe set can cost as much as the Daughter's own set of clothes!<br />
<br />
I don't blame the Daughter, though, as as a kid, it was one of the things I myself enjoyed playing with (The only difference was I was lucky that an aunt gifted me with a box full of Barbie doll clothes, shoes and accessories for Christmas, hence the Parentals didn't need to buy me some. 😁) <br />
<br />
We've not bought the Daughter any brand new Barbie clothes from Mattel yet. We've been trying to avoid doing so as much as possible. So instead, we source their clothes from:<br />
<ol>
<li>local online sellers selling 2nd hand Barbie clothes (great as they are original Mattel and will only require a bit of washing if dirty),</li>
<li>sourced directly from a China factory (which we did buy from only once and I swear, will never buy from ever again. They are cheap but utter rubbish; majority did not even last us a day's play!),</li>
<li>from a S$2 Japanese lifestyle store called <a class="spell" href="http://theaveragejane00900.blogspot.sg/2016/06/sg-tokutokuya-best-store-evah-too.html" target="_blank"><b>Tokutokuya</b></a>, (cheap and extremely durable), and</li>
<li>if time permits, I DIY.</li>
</ol>

<br />
Slowly but surely, the Daughter's collection of Barbie clothes started to grow to the extent that a more organized way of storing them (aside from stuffing them all in a plastic bag) was already in order.<br />
<br />
Now like anything Mattel, a Barbie closet is also expensive. A brand-new set can cost as much as S$60 (Php2,040)! 😢 So I again turn into a DIY-er to solve this dilemma (that plus a few well-appointed pieces from the local Daiso).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwasuyQ9ZnVofq4YJ0mqz6Hgia7Ssxmhu89lc4hsHn_IPWv-wT_84nT8LM0jzkOU0TChdxTJMa34Nh3GWC_upZHBeoILnJ_ZTrNrLljP5bAo3gZZMi4KhzgpG1PXLLfjbCwK3Z2p60unBn/s1600/Daiso_Singapore_Barbie_closet_DIY+%25285%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwasuyQ9ZnVofq4YJ0mqz6Hgia7Ssxmhu89lc4hsHn_IPWv-wT_84nT8LM0jzkOU0TChdxTJMa34Nh3GWC_upZHBeoILnJ_ZTrNrLljP5bAo3gZZMi4KhzgpG1PXLLfjbCwK3Z2p60unBn/s400/Daiso_Singapore_Barbie_closet_DIY+%25285%2529.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
The end result? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDrxzowVHzWtyo9GXlSTzcemkN6uAb-M0XRV5RtHg_NNbBb3M3tLyL5kL-9wZlG_TyfkwJnR9QsZH3ArAu34iNO0mzgZCCCVC-laDeTII_jopdyLlZvdafnQhK9s9JZRbgombLmlFWf9VJ/s1600/Daiso_Singapore_Barbie_closet_DIY+%25281%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1578" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDrxzowVHzWtyo9GXlSTzcemkN6uAb-M0XRV5RtHg_NNbBb3M3tLyL5kL-9wZlG_TyfkwJnR9QsZH3ArAu34iNO0mzgZCCCVC-laDeTII_jopdyLlZvdafnQhK9s9JZRbgombLmlFWf9VJ/s320/Daiso_Singapore_Barbie_closet_DIY+%25281%2529.jpg" width="315" /></a></div>
<br />
A bigger and more spacious Barbie closet with compartments for everything.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT7eN0-GYBB1xHpAYUFk8cYbr4QA-9OWa6IQtFr9H3GVTXtl2rUOGUPHCU0CnZ0fnco1z2vQG_-ESCQ2ENbZvT7PUBs6fcj2tILXypc5WQeyk5jU3rIxcNc35z88R2wPoxHebvyaCm8tjN/s1600/Daiso_Singapore_Barbie_closet_DIY+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="634" data-original-width="800" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT7eN0-GYBB1xHpAYUFk8cYbr4QA-9OWa6IQtFr9H3GVTXtl2rUOGUPHCU0CnZ0fnco1z2vQG_-ESCQ2ENbZvT7PUBs6fcj2tILXypc5WQeyk5jU3rIxcNc35z88R2wPoxHebvyaCm8tjN/s400/Daiso_Singapore_Barbie_closet_DIY+%25282%2529.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And the best part is, the whole thing only cost S$24 (Php816). Once the Daughter outgrows this, we can simply take the whole thing apart and use the individual pieces for various needs. 😊<br />

<br />
Now, I'm all for affordability. Considering the cost of living here
in the Lion City is pretty high, dining establishments like this are
heaven-sent. But is it really worth it?<br />
<br />
Case in point. For this particular visit, we had the <span style="color: blue;"><i>Curry Chicken Baked Rice</i></span> (S$5.90/Php200.60). Warning, dish is hot (both the plate and the curry sauce. 😁) I love the curry sauce. The cheese complements the sauce quite well. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtssqSQR5fPBI2dIBdgYqZ9LNit-7Fa-wESRT9NTEWkDRxuwao9DH8EZve-t2NgC4o1hPaKcyASOOz_-U1yrDTS2c_nGJck1lvzKDCvFitiwgLBxllmZov-QqC0lOvcJ14sC62fjrfL4RU/s1600/Saizeriya_Singapore+%25284%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtssqSQR5fPBI2dIBdgYqZ9LNit-7Fa-wESRT9NTEWkDRxuwao9DH8EZve-t2NgC4o1hPaKcyASOOz_-U1yrDTS2c_nGJck1lvzKDCvFitiwgLBxllmZov-QqC0lOvcJ14sC62fjrfL4RU/s400/Saizeriya_Singapore+%25284%2529.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Be warned though, on some days, you rarely get more than 4 pieces of chicken for the whole dish. On worse days, you get raw chicken (which happened to us twice). 😢<br />
<br />
For the Husband, it is pasta. Their <span style="color: blue;"><i>Mushroom Spinach Cream Pasta</i></span> (S$6.90/Php234.60), to be exact.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Pasta is al dente but sauce is a bit bland. We usually add in tons of Parmesan cheese to this dish (which is a good thing that <span style="color: blue;"><b>Saizeriya </b></span>provides unlimited servings of). <br />
<br />
Our Pepperoni pizza thankfully came out ok. Slightly spicy pepperoni with mozzarella cheese on thick dough.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-xmaWa1DuCCuf8Jrq5NnpT-Sz2HEq3Wo8U2ufbLyf_VIqO4tJo12lxA76FYqnKC_4ghgpGDulHdoBCrNCg69ycmwc0-doUIchnNLj37l1ccOADSJnoQXsQBg-qFiYoxk4laW2vINRWSNN/s1600/Saizeriya_Singapore+%25282%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-xmaWa1DuCCuf8Jrq5NnpT-Sz2HEq3Wo8U2ufbLyf_VIqO4tJo12lxA76FYqnKC_4ghgpGDulHdoBCrNCg69ycmwc0-doUIchnNLj37l1ccOADSJnoQXsQBg-qFiYoxk4laW2vINRWSNN/s400/Saizeriya_Singapore+%25282%2529.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Our verdict? I have to say its a hit-and-miss thing. Affordable and palatable. Ok if you want to eat on the cheap. <br />

<br />
In a nutshell, my previous experience was nothing much to hark about and left me feeling solely cheated (these salted egg chips don't come cheap, you know!) <br />
My verdict? Made fresh and comes with a resealable pouch, <span style="color: blue;"><b>Irvins </b></span>has that crunchy, not-so-oily chip texture that I definitely like. They boast that their chips are #DangerouslyAddictive, and I do agree!<br />
<br />
It is salty and sweet and spicy all in one bite. NOTE: For best results, shake the bag hard (as if your life depended on it!) before eating to ensure that their delicious salted egg powder coats each and every chip well.<br />
<br />
Another offering from <span style="color: blue;"><b>Irvins </b></span>are their salted egg coated fish skin chips. <br />

Between you and me, it tastes exactly like pork <i>chicharon</i>. Tasty, but I think I'll stick with the potato chip kind (I've never been a fan of <i>chicharon </i>anyway. 😄)<br />
<br />
A bag of either kind retails for S$8 (Php272) for a small one while bigger bags costs S$16 (Php544).<br />
<br />
Seriously delicious!<br />

<a name='more'></a>So when the Family found ourselves near their Vivo City branch during the Husband's birthday, we decided to splurge a bit in celebration of the Dada's big __ - 0. 😁<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdA0Drd4rQa4HQHogY3NTbuzbu0xGGT3TUnkUjoVj_071vOTHdjJ-E0PEYL8nmNQihYwfrYP_trWWAGXqjnB5V90UBrPS3ykRnLMYpwIqtxG1mazoFsT0DIJhBUdVKuvN7AZXe3qTKp91M/s1600/Jamie%2527s_Italian_Singapore+%25288%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdA0Drd4rQa4HQHogY3NTbuzbu0xGGT3TUnkUjoVj_071vOTHdjJ-E0PEYL8nmNQihYwfrYP_trWWAGXqjnB5V90UBrPS3ykRnLMYpwIqtxG1mazoFsT0DIJhBUdVKuvN7AZXe3qTKp91M/s400/Jamie%2527s_Italian_Singapore+%25288%2529.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Heads-up: Prices are bit heavy on the pocket; but servings are good enough for 2 to share (which what the Husband and I did as we wanted to try out as many dishes as possible.<br />
<br />
First up, The<span style="color: blue;"><i> Jamie's Italian Burger </i></span>(S$34.50/Php1,173). Prime beef patty topped with pancetta, onions, cheddar cheese, tomatoes and the house's special sauce. Packed between a brioche bun and served with a side of fries (or chips as the British call it.)<br />
<br />

<br />
Another dish we decided to try was the <span style="color: blue;"><i>Prawn Linguine</i></span> (S$27.00/Php918). A hearty dish of linguine noodles with prawns, tons of garlic and tomatoes (among others).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
We didn't forget the Daughter, of course. She decided to get the kid's meal of <span style="color: blue;"><i>Happy Chicken Lollipops</i></span> (S$9.50/Php323) which came with a side salad, potatoes and a glass of apple juice.<br />
<br />

<br />
For drinks, we got a glass of <span style="color: blue;"><i>Basil tea</i></span> (S$5.50/Php187) and a mocktail they call the <span style="color: blue;"><i>Refresher</i></span> (S$7.50/Php255) which is basically freshly squeezed lemon juice with cranberry juice and sweetened with a dash of elderflower cordial.<br />

<br />
I have always associated Jamie Oliver with clean, healthy and hearty meals made with fresh, simple ingredients. And a meal at this restaurant fits this to a tee.<br />
<br />
We came out with a much deeper appreciation of what a little bit of creativity and innovation can do to the usual healthy ingredients.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrOHsxiE7FIKsvP9Kofx28unHV-WGUJagqBn1Qf5U5VE7xGDSY35DD0RWS3bZaZWl3_D1QYxRuheNpChmyHG4JZlRm3nhmmsse5NOHFJZKSN7HavK9gmv3qZnH6rtiCBSb8UZJCrB4osJv/s1600/Slyvanian_Families_DIY_wallpaper_craft+%252810%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="694" data-original-width="767" height="361" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrOHsxiE7FIKsvP9Kofx28unHV-WGUJagqBn1Qf5U5VE7xGDSY35DD0RWS3bZaZWl3_D1QYxRuheNpChmyHG4JZlRm3nhmmsse5NOHFJZKSN7HavK9gmv3qZnH6rtiCBSb8UZJCrB4osJv/s400/Slyvanian_Families_DIY_wallpaper_craft+%252810%2529.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a>It came with some basic furniture and a Sister rabbit, which the Daughter lovingly named Jiejie Rabbit (Chinese for big sister).<br />
<br />
It was a toy set that she kept on playing with as the years passed. And eventually we did add a few more pieces (like a sofa, additional kitchen stuff and study table) along with a Mommy and Daddy Rabbit so she'd have a Rabbit family with the same dynamic as ours. 😊 <br />
<br />
However, as the Daughter's imagination grew, so did the occupants of her little doll house. Meaning whatever small toy she had that could fit in it, immediately became the home of that particular toy.<br />
<br />
It was in this particular mindset that the Husband and I decided that maybe it was time for an "upgrade". Now the good thing about living in Singapore is that when there's a sale, more often than not, items really go on sale. Toys included. And it was in one of those off the beaten path warehouse sales that I saw this -- a <a href="http://sylvanianfamilies.net/sg/catalog/item_detail.php?product_id=198" target="_blank"><b>Sylvanian Families City House with Lights</b></a> set (comes with additional furniture and a Sister and Brother Racoon) selling for only S$70.00 (approx Php2,380)!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAfE4MmjutPpGUMrB8_j-JTv8xK-4koC7Fg6Qc3KzuB9JvuI2jDkz3QNeuxvNeSbUiQogFHUbO1LcUGF8yrBDO6k_8X_kJJr0uxIuNQMR1dkM39t-s8HsYWIb84IIEiVL5krGz7NnGStgB/s1600/Slyvanian_Families_DIY_wallpaper_craft+%25289%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="597" data-original-width="776" height="307" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAfE4MmjutPpGUMrB8_j-JTv8xK-4koC7Fg6Qc3KzuB9JvuI2jDkz3QNeuxvNeSbUiQogFHUbO1LcUGF8yrBDO6k_8X_kJJr0uxIuNQMR1dkM39t-s8HsYWIb84IIEiVL5krGz7NnGStgB/s400/Slyvanian_Families_DIY_wallpaper_craft+%25289%2529.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Considering this set can easily cost you S$250.00 (Php8,500), to find one at more than half of the original price is a steal! The caveat was, as it was from a warehouse sale, the box wasn't in good condition (<u>read</u>: dirty and old and patchy) but after a thorough check of the contents and finding everything in good working order (including the lights), I made straight to the cashier and paid for my purchase (along with other smaller pieces of furniture that were also on sale for as low as S$5.00/Php170.00 each).<br />
<br />
A good deal, if I do say so myself, never mind that the location of the sale was in the middle of an old industrial zone that was an hour and a half's commute from where our home is (train and bus rides combined). Didn't care though. This was the perfect Christmas gift for the Daughter (which we did give to her back in December 2016).<br />
<br />
The fact that we also eventually sold the Daughter's 1st set (house only)
and got a buyer who was willing to pay S$20 for it, our purchase came to
only S$50 (Php1,500)!!! Whatta deal! <br />
<br />
Although I am willing to purchase additional furniture for the house, I do cross the line at decor. And by decor, I mean wallpaper, flower vines and the like. No way Jose!<br />
<br />
So what do I do? Turn to trusty DIY, of course!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT3zjE80DT-sJUFZY63dqhqTbETyVBa8hdUv19xxH62mX3_85yVxuO_eLiQEvFW57RzrUP2uRHxsPSEFQugyfYUbPwLBXoRYAB1vDDZ62wxAXA5YBpDD-B20nFIJDZAMbo6zGaarssrRnS/s1600/Slyvanian_Families_DIY_wallpaper_craft+%25281%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="473" data-original-width="800" height="236" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT3zjE80DT-sJUFZY63dqhqTbETyVBa8hdUv19xxH62mX3_85yVxuO_eLiQEvFW57RzrUP2uRHxsPSEFQugyfYUbPwLBXoRYAB1vDDZ62wxAXA5YBpDD-B20nFIJDZAMbo6zGaarssrRnS/s400/Slyvanian_Families_DIY_wallpaper_craft+%25281%2529.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Take, for instance, the flower vines wrapped along the banister? Bought a whole bunch of those at Daiso for S$2.00 (Ph68.00) a pack. Two packs were more than enough to cover the banisters plus the staircase, and looked so colorful to boot! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3DU5Xmx7uVNSrrBaPohoihGD04NmNJ1mzhwqWdBUcHJrsjlZOmuGpJ6oqwaq1xj8yUQcJIJqzKINiCh-kQYBt7LhyochNWg9r0HQkhYmaT_q4Y3aQiK3HRSpQRy3GsheqtVWflqfaXitk/s1600/Slyvanian_Families_DIY_wallpaper_craft+%25286%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1381" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3DU5Xmx7uVNSrrBaPohoihGD04NmNJ1mzhwqWdBUcHJrsjlZOmuGpJ6oqwaq1xj8yUQcJIJqzKINiCh-kQYBt7LhyochNWg9r0HQkhYmaT_q4Y3aQiK3HRSpQRy3GsheqtVWflqfaXitk/s400/Slyvanian_Families_DIY_wallpaper_craft+%25286%2529.jpeg" width="345" /></a></div>
<br />
Now it looks like vines are creeping up all over the house. 😊<br />
<br />
For the bare walls? <br />

<br />
Now, this was crucial as I would hate for this to look tacky. Good thing Daiso carries these gorgeous origami papers which are pressed with small dried flowers and comes in cute pastel shades.<br />
<br />
For Jiejie Rabbit's room, I used a nice pink pastel shade that looks especially wonderful with a similar pink, Parisian-themed washi tape trim (also from Daiso). I used blue tack to stick my "wallpaper" to walls.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
For the curtains, I bought some lace trim, sewed loosely in a bunch and added ribbons on the sides. Also used blue tack to stick to my wallpaper.<br />
<br />
The effect? Judge for yourself. 😊<br />

If you're wondering about the light fixture, yes, also from Daiso and stuck to the ceiling using blue tack. 😁<br />

Not really in the Central Business District (CBD), but still considered a bit in the Central area.<br />
<br />
Now there are definitely advantages to this. Mainly is that I can eat lunch on the cheap. Compared to the Husband, whose office is located right smack in the CBD area and whose lunch costs anywhere from S$10.00 to 15.00 (approx Php340.00 to 510.00), my lunch can cost as little as S$3.00 (Php102.00).<br />
<br />
This is all fine and well most of the time; but there are days when I'm craving for a bit more variety (and am in a slightly more generous mood). In cases like these, I head on over to <i>The Commerz </i>building<i> </i>(about 3 blocks from the office) and grab a bite from one of the restaurants there.<br />
<br />
It was on one particularly generous mood (that plus the Husband meeting me on those rare occasions for weekday lunch together) that we decided to try <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/carolmelcafe/" target="_blank">Carol Mel cafe</a></b>.<br />
<br />

<a name='more'></a>Serving both a mix of the usual western fare plus dishes with an east-meets-west fusion feel, this is definitely the place to go if your particularly craving for some good, traditional (or not-so-traditional) comfort food.<br />

<br />
My order? A serving of creamy white <span style="color: blue;"><i>Carbonara </i></span>(S$15.00/Php510.00). Quite a tasty dish of spaghetti mixed with crunchy bacon bits (as they say, everything tastes better with bacon!) and a sauce of white cheese sprinkled with parmesan.<br />
<br />

<br />
For the Husband, it's the <span style="color: blue;"><i>Aglio Olio </i></span>(S$15.00/Php510.00). Spaghetti tossed in herbs, sauteed garlic, olive oil and chili flakes. And you know it's going to taste good because it's topped with... crunchy bacon bits!!! Slightly spicy. 😊<br />

<br />
We were given the option to top up our mains with soup or salad and lemon tea or soda (add S$5.00/Php170). We opted for the <span style="color: blue;"><i>Cream Chunky Mushroom Soup</i></span> and iced lemon tea.<br />
<br />

<br />
I don't usually have baked dessert on a weekday (opting instead to have fresh fruit as a break from indulgences over the weekend 😁) but since this was a special day (like I said, it's not everyday the Husband and I have weekday lunch together), we splurge a bit and ordered a slice of <span style="color: blue;"><i>Rainbow Cheesecake</i></span> (S$8.00/Php272.00) to share.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiPsqpUP4v0IeptOdY_a4H5SpqYUwmTIbuebkhbpBUi70UqTI0TZqIuzWC1D9s8tt2Sjl6iZeNR1xhKXANzz57_LQA-exshj-8YPe11h37-5CVIUowQXVPU4pQljyI-qRVFTS7Wnmh3Cti/s1600/Carol_Mel_Cafe_Singapore+%25284%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiPsqpUP4v0IeptOdY_a4H5SpqYUwmTIbuebkhbpBUi70UqTI0TZqIuzWC1D9s8tt2Sjl6iZeNR1xhKXANzz57_LQA-exshj-8YPe11h37-5CVIUowQXVPU4pQljyI-qRVFTS7Wnmh3Cti/s400/Carol_Mel_Cafe_Singapore+%25284%2529.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I have to say, this is a dessert any young girl (like the Daughter) would love. Mainly because it looks so gosh darn cute and colorful!<br />
<br />
And although I was just expecting this to taste like any ordinary cheesecake, I was actually surprised that each color part was infused with different fruit flavors! Amazing! My only gripe? It was too small a piece for sharing. I should have ordered a slice each for the Husband and I. 😁<br />
<br />
Overall, not a bad place to indulge once in a while. Definitely coming back to try something else (you're mine next, <i>Buttermilk Waffle Cheeze Curry Katsu</i>!)<br />

I believe every little child has this creativity bug in them. The Daughter herself loves doing crafts. She doodles, cuts, paints, etc.<br />
<br />
Whereas before, her art supplies were all placed inside her closets, we decided now was a good time to have it out in the open. So off I went to Daiso and bought this -- a plastic remote control holder.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI_7PgS5Jyd21AS12_wv3ywewfAfDvZUBZYQ84M4Jb0izURkq4mi432fAjUlgxt9_7lCWkzslUUyziFIJW5CK1USm50ZCFMeyYmTnhKlweSAlSwCpMvE2HADdwlSdr_DKz6Mir7Ix6EbtM/s1600/Daiso_Singapore_Remote_control_holder+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="624" data-original-width="599" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI_7PgS5Jyd21AS12_wv3ywewfAfDvZUBZYQ84M4Jb0izURkq4mi432fAjUlgxt9_7lCWkzslUUyziFIJW5CK1USm50ZCFMeyYmTnhKlweSAlSwCpMvE2HADdwlSdr_DKz6Mir7Ix6EbtM/s400/Daiso_Singapore_Remote_control_holder+%25282%2529.jpg" width="383" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Ok, I hear you. Why a remote control holder?<br />
<br />
Well, mainly because Daiso didn't really have an art caddy that I felt was just right for our needs. With the Daughter's crayons, markers and scissors (among other things), we needed one with enough compartments to fit everything in nicely in a shape that wouldn't take too much space in her already small desk.<br />
<br />
Now this remote control holder fits all our needs to a T.<br />
<br />

I love learning about the past. So it comes as
no surprise that any type of entertainment set in days gone by leaves
me utterly fascinated. Be it books, films, and of course, TV shows.<br />
<br />
The most (relatively) recent fascination in this regard I've had is with the <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1606375/" target="_blank"><b>Downton Abbey</b></a>
series. This 6-season series show tells the life of the fictional
aristocratic Crawley family and their servants set in the early 20th
century. Needless to say, I was one of their legions of fans who were
heartbroken to see them end their series run. 😞<br />
<br />
However,
what keeps me my interests alive are the rumors of a movie in the
making (which I am seriously hoping would happen soon), and events like
these -- <a href="http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2017/06/downton-abbey-movie-clue" target="_blank"><b>Downtown Abbey: The Exhibition</b></a>!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcvhaIbhR13vlxBlkUj8UhLX3IyQqvfWfvZpf92TAJwc5606I_nRL2-nMlUA2n9qEUmOyYVxR4rBHbDSzVwjD6Xo4tU9rCvUA55hhJzpedffeCtZYriOyx5FspFn5Louh7IIW39vXUZX-x/s1600/Downton_Abbey_Exhibition_Singapore+%25281%2529+.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcvhaIbhR13vlxBlkUj8UhLX3IyQqvfWfvZpf92TAJwc5606I_nRL2-nMlUA2n9qEUmOyYVxR4rBHbDSzVwjD6Xo4tU9rCvUA55hhJzpedffeCtZYriOyx5FspFn5Louh7IIW39vXUZX-x/s400/Downton_Abbey_Exhibition_Singapore+%25281%2529+.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="color: blue;"><b>Downton Abbey: The Exhibition</b></span>
aims to bring the Downton Abbey magic to their fans via a showcase of
props, costumes and sets used in this delightful TV series. And their
first stop just happens to be here in Singapore!!! 😍<br />
<br />
I wouldn't let this one pass. So I booked a <a href="http://www.sistic.com.sg/events/abbey0817" target="_blank">ticket online</a>,
said bye to the family on a sunny Saturday afternoon (at least for a
few hours), and happily skipped (not really but I was sorely tempted to
do so) to the<a href="http://www.marinabaysands.com/entertainment/shows/downton-abbey-exhibition.html#VXRAU8xbbOQBYwrc.97" target="_blank"> </a><span class="large"><a href="http://www.marinabaysands.com/entertainment/shows/downton-abbey-exhibition.html#VXRAU8xbbOQBYwrc.97" target="_blank">Sands Expo and Convention Centre located at Marina Bay Sands</a> (where the exhibit was being housed). </span> <br />
<br />
To
say that the exhibit left me astounded is an understatement! With over
50 pieces of costumes (not including other props!) used in the show
coupled with historical tidbits about life during the time the series
was set, it is truly a treat for any <strike><i>Downtonian</i></strike> <strike><i>Abbey Head </i></strike> fan of the show.<br />

<br />
The
tour starts with a brief intro by Julian Fellowes (a.k.a. the genius
behind the show) himself! Well his videoed self anyway. 😃 He gives
visitors a bit more insights into how the show was developed and what
makes it so intriguing.<br />
<br />

<br />
After his talk, <i>Mr. Carson </i>the butler comes in (played by <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0141697/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t3" target="_blank">Jim Carter</a>) who warmly (albeit with a quick swipe at the clothing choices of people today) welcomes you to the "big house".<br />
<br />
The
next room showcases each major character, giving visitors a brief
summary of who they are, some background info about the character, and
some historical tidbits of life back then.<br />

<br />
It's quite hard for me to say who my favorite <span style="color: blue;"><b>Downton Abbey </b></span>character
is. Like majority of fans, I too have quite a few. Some have been
favorites since series 1; others have become a fave in the middle of the
show's run. But the one character who I have always been drawn to
would be <a href="http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0249425/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t12"><i>Violet Crawley</i>, the Dowager Countess of Grantham</a>,
played by none other that the magnificent Dame Maggie Smith (and you
know she's a fan fave since she has one of the best showcase areas
ever!) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicAuuI-kPcH0GW-TSqmvE-q1zZenVeeJ12dbYbXbPxCGW3B27_geBPQEpoBZzDCy2HkhLe7e2nnaDGPaO1_qYV-MG-RR0Enkp2MG_3mlgeM_b3eBTBhdwqeFKP4XWDjI158-HiJes52yHM/s1600/Downton_Abbey_Exhibition_Singapore+%25287%2529+.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicAuuI-kPcH0GW-TSqmvE-q1zZenVeeJ12dbYbXbPxCGW3B27_geBPQEpoBZzDCy2HkhLe7e2nnaDGPaO1_qYV-MG-RR0Enkp2MG_3mlgeM_b3eBTBhdwqeFKP4XWDjI158-HiJes52yHM/s400/Downton_Abbey_Exhibition_Singapore+%25287%2529+.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
In
a way, you could say that one of the reasons why I love the show is
that, aside from the historical perspective, each character's story and
personality is written so well. They have their flaws and their
interests, but they evolve. So a character who was made up as a
"villain" in the first few seasons (think <i>Thomas Barrow </i>a.k.a. <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1674947/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t7" target="_blank">Robert James-Collier</a>)
eventually learns the error of his ways and repents in the end (and as a
fan, you also find yourself rooting for him as well later on 😊). <br />
<br />
Although the series uses <a href="https://www.highclerecastle.co.uk/" target="_blank">Highclere Castle</a>
for its exterior shots plus the drawing room, dining room and library
scenes (among others). For the rest, sets were done and filmed in a
London studio.<br />
<br />
So like any great exhibition, the
in-studio sets were brought in and reconstructed for fans to enjoy.
Starting with sets from scenes "below" the house. <br />

is an interactive booth that allows you to "apply" for a job at the big

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<a name='more'></a>(1) Big laundry bag - Not to be used as a laundry bag but more of a stuffed toy bag container. Seriously hate leaving the Daughter's stuffed toys out in the open where they can easily gather dust. At least now they're all snug inside this bag.<br />
<br />
(2) Magnetic message sheet - Currently stuck on the fridge for quick notes jotting.<br />
<br />
(3) Balls of yarn - Have started crocheting again. Mainly because the Daughter has been bugging me for Barbie clothes. 😁<br />
<br />
(4) Magnetic sponge holder - Will be sticking to the fridge as a handy container.<br />
<br />
(5) Jewel stickers - For the Daughter's craft projects.<br />
<br />
(6) Jump rope with counter - I've been hoping Daiso would come up with something like this. This device counts your jumps when skipping rope.<br />
<br />
(7) Straw brush cleaner - Extra small for those straws that the Daughter's drinking bottles come in.<br />
<br />
(8) Remote control holder - Will be using for another purpose too (to be revealed in my next post.) 😊<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4lbULnzGS-ECuCi16tqW1xKH6vdAWhxxqo_IQP2zONNmpZtSUR0IxoF2Ew9zqTmEXUQxfddYhfrMaLtWbq77H-Pwfwt9u8p4L6zjdZfuS7FyjD_CMgbNWXpGYu2cLq_KIZhHlNNIj8Gxi/s1600/Daiso_haul_July_2017_Singapore+%25282%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="762" data-original-width="599" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4lbULnzGS-ECuCi16tqW1xKH6vdAWhxxqo_IQP2zONNmpZtSUR0IxoF2Ew9zqTmEXUQxfddYhfrMaLtWbq77H-Pwfwt9u8p4L6zjdZfuS7FyjD_CMgbNWXpGYu2cLq_KIZhHlNNIj8Gxi/s400/Daiso_haul_July_2017_Singapore+%25282%2529.jpeg" width="313" /></a></div>
<br />
(9) Sponge holder that hangs from the faucet - To replace our old one as mold has settled on it and I find I could not remove them already.<br />
<br />
(10) Plastic container - For the Daughter's collection of small Lego sets. A word of caution though. The lid does not close tight so it's best to still have an elastic around it for a more secure fit.<br />
<br />
(11) Pink spatula with clear handle - Because it's a cutie! Plus our spatula has done missing and no one's owing up who misplaced it.<br />
<br />
(12) Rainbow jump rope - Since the Daughter has told us she wanted to learn to skip rope, too. Best thing with this piece is you can actually cut the rope shorter to just the right length for your child.<br />
<br />
(13) Magnetic tape - To turn ordinary items to magnetic sticking machines!<br />
<br />
(14) Kitchen sponge - Material doesn't really seem like a sponge but looks like it's made from layers of cloth.<br />
<br />
I'm been wanting to stop using sponges for washing dishes as I'm getting disgusted by them and have been hoping to find an alternative that I can just throw in the wash from time-to-time. For me, the only clean sponge is the one that comes out new from the pack. This new Daiso product seemed like the perfect solution as it seems machine washable. Will be testing soon enough. 😁<br />
<br />
(15) Metal wire for bracelets - For a craft project I've been thinking of doing.<br />
<br />
(16) Pearl head pins - Also for a craft project.<br />
<br />
(17) Water bottle holder - Ever experience buying a bottle of cold water outside and finding yourself carrying it around until you finish the whole thing because you don't want to place it inside your bag where it might drip all over your other stuff? Well this item holds your cold water bottle in place and simply lets you attach it outside your bag. Handy!<br />
<br />
That's it for this Daiso haul. 😍 <div class="blogger-post-footer">This post is brought to you by <a href='http://www.theaveragejane00900.blogspot.com'>Tin</a> of <a href='http://www.theaveragejane00900.blogspot.com'>The Average Jane</a> blog. Simply put, it drives the homesickness at bay (for a few days, at least).<br />
<br />
I'm not usually picky when it comes to choosing a Filipino restaurant to dine in here in Singapore. Hey, Filipino food is Filipino food even if it doesn't exactly taste the way I am used to. Because like all restaurants, there are the great ones and the not-so-good ones.<br />
<br />
I wasn't picky, that is, until I tried <span style="color: blue;"><b>Filipino Fiesta</b></span>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbeCE7znm3UlD8sO78O_KqmDK4es_PWwfCMoGivMYgazy93oXKXl0QbwGlNbYE7cWROpIr5rD4x2Bfqa1P2_qMFh1blMqfQkfwX9PODiovhWTFg_vyFGP2sYttaXdi62CoiTLxRcbrzHq2/s1600/2017-05-2--20-50-05.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbeCE7znm3UlD8sO78O_KqmDK4es_PWwfCMoGivMYgazy93oXKXl0QbwGlNbYE7cWROpIr5rD4x2Bfqa1P2_qMFh1blMqfQkfwX9PODiovhWTFg_vyFGP2sYttaXdi62CoiTLxRcbrzHq2/s400/2017-05-2--20-50-05.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a>Located in Joo Chiat road,<span style="color: blue;"> <b>Filipino Fiesta</b></span> is the typical small eatery serving Filipino fare, offering local viand that me and most of our <i>kababayans</i> crave.<br />
<br />
Personally, I always crave <i>Kare-Kare </i>(S$15.00/Php525.00). Beef pieces with a sweet, curry peanut sauce accompanied with <i>bagoong.</i> For Filipino Fiesta's version, I can only describe it in 1 word -- <u>salty</u>. Extremely salty. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvpctMjq5fIcmjdN_pcS-MAt-Ci4H1skka6RUpoYkhpDO5tC1hbX54Ilm8hB-bk9uDKWMAR1kIvUvoFmSkUxL1HzHImwostmNyQNJREcTi7Lvd2e9ANcKKOiyedXJmeIx0HNe39syPsJb_/s1600/2017-05-2--20-46-35.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="597" data-original-width="800" height="297" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvpctMjq5fIcmjdN_pcS-MAt-Ci4H1skka6RUpoYkhpDO5tC1hbX54Ilm8hB-bk9uDKWMAR1kIvUvoFmSkUxL1HzHImwostmNyQNJREcTi7Lvd2e9ANcKKOiyedXJmeIx0HNe39syPsJb_/s400/2017-05-2--20-46-35.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I was up to forgive this transgression, but lo and behold, when our <i>chopsuey </i>(a dish of stir fried vegetables, S$7.00/Php245.00) came, it too was salty as well! 😓<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiQFkBkksEL4Ip5HiInfpxNXpXO9Ysin8ZtKBUH0zYDLQWuDMScLxFenhyphenhyphenl3rJoIjxUxNfklSDggFnTlRlU514oh2QMpfPxpSKxtEqt1AUJny0f9FipwmCsPfUKb_n6Y8-CZcA_iSPWS60/s1600/2017-05-2--20-47-42.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiQFkBkksEL4Ip5HiInfpxNXpXO9Ysin8ZtKBUH0zYDLQWuDMScLxFenhyphenhyphenl3rJoIjxUxNfklSDggFnTlRlU514oh2QMpfPxpSKxtEqt1AUJny0f9FipwmCsPfUKb_n6Y8-CZcA_iSPWS60/s400/2017-05-2--20-47-42.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I had had enough so I requested that both dishes be cooked again. And good thing too, as thankfully, the second time around, it tasted just right (not great mind you, but at least it did not come out tasting like it was seasoned with a cup of salt.<br />
<br />
I do would have to say, that their saving grace was the <i>leche flan</i> (caramel pudding, S$2.50/Php87.50). Soft and slightly sweet. I was afraid it would also come out salty. 😀<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdBvjdOCiTyzmzSS9-huie9zTs782zGAODFPW7KH0yR6ZC7Jug-7dEiudyhQYZdhWduJKFSC9XRjMRn0rwhm3XvqHLG-Rx7n5Z13h_IV09EXzXtjNCWOAFh_8P4Wdor8fTYQ1-zJhyphenhyphenH5UH/s1600/2017-05-2--20-48-49.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="588" data-original-width="800" height="293" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdBvjdOCiTyzmzSS9-huie9zTs782zGAODFPW7KH0yR6ZC7Jug-7dEiudyhQYZdhWduJKFSC9XRjMRn0rwhm3XvqHLG-Rx7n5Z13h_IV09EXzXtjNCWOAFh_8P4Wdor8fTYQ1-zJhyphenhyphenH5UH/s400/2017-05-2--20-48-49.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Would I eat here again? Probably not in the near future. And mind you, this decision came about not based on just this one visit. This was actually our second time and our food at the first try came out just as salty (Hey! I believe in 2nd chances.) 😓<br />
<br />
Hope this changes soon as I do have high hopes for this one.<div class="blogger-post-footer">This post is brought to you by <a href='http://www.theaveragejane00900.blogspot.com'>Tin</a> of <a href='http://www.theaveragejane00900.blogspot.com'>The Average Jane</a> blog. Unfortunately, these things cost too much and I'm not really too gung-ho on spending too much for them. Heck! A set can cost as much as the Daughter's own shirt!<br />
<br />
So what's a mom do? DIY, of course!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuV1K41hbhyZtTZ5cL_iWFpdkTewLel1aIUe1dZt7zOvpr-DJ6K6zeOxw3zzNcu5euOiScuIwXqbPtT7SY_bEqUs0sznObBe8mm1jjddSwaU5IfN5H5Vh5SvONRm6OmXRS2Npb7vssuAPJ/s1600/PicsArt_06-11-07.30.15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuV1K41hbhyZtTZ5cL_iWFpdkTewLel1aIUe1dZt7zOvpr-DJ6K6zeOxw3zzNcu5euOiScuIwXqbPtT7SY_bEqUs0sznObBe8mm1jjddSwaU5IfN5H5Vh5SvONRm6OmXRS2Npb7vssuAPJ/s400/PicsArt_06-11-07.30.15.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a>For instance, to make a simple handbag for Barbie, I bought:<br />
<ul>
<li>a small coin purse (the smallest I could find); and</li>
<li>a synthetic leather bracelet (make sure it comes with extra chain links). </li>
</ul>
I've said it before, Daiso is LOVE. These 2 things I bought during my last Daiso shopping trip, making this bag cost a mere S$4.00 only. 😃<br />
<br />
Assembly is as simple as connecting the bracelet to the coin purse itself. I used the extra chain links to secure the bracelet on to the purse. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlq2Ui3g2HwMbyRgYXfRwtHyARxz9zkbx3_CX3MTrvyY9b3AdjPukZMWjmkLCFpkujKFoo5lNwVyWwMYJJa1NMpYe7sjqtcpvIQU-Am3PsdigNvosfK7JxAKAvvArgsycHVVBeldVN44P5/s1600/PicsArt_06-11-07.31.06.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlq2Ui3g2HwMbyRgYXfRwtHyARxz9zkbx3_CX3MTrvyY9b3AdjPukZMWjmkLCFpkujKFoo5lNwVyWwMYJJa1NMpYe7sjqtcpvIQU-Am3PsdigNvosfK7JxAKAvvArgsycHVVBeldVN44P5/s400/PicsArt_06-11-07.31.06.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
A little bit of metal twisting and viola! A DIY Barbie purse for the Daughter to play with. Didn't even break the bank!<br />
<br />
And the best part is, once the Daughter outgrows her desire to play with Barbie dolls, she can simply deconstruct everything and use both the coin purse and bracelet exactly as they were meant to be used. No waste! 😄 <div class="blogger-post-footer">This post is brought to you by <a href='http://www.theaveragejane00900.blogspot.com'>Tin</a> of <a href='http://www.theaveragejane00900.blogspot.com'>The Average Jane</a> blog. S$2 (approx Php68), they offer great savings and can definitely help stretch your dollar. And considering how expensive it is in Singapore, every time the shopping bug bites me, an hour at Daiso is all the remedy I need. 😃<br />
<br />
So in this post, I want to showcase my Daiso haul!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOuWPgOsqde2MB9Vgwwc6pouxmcR9UmkWnLH-_pYETzplnaW8Hiej2kXLH6vep8lS2M1CAvxOOCTL7WFJUa0absJzJKVwBIPOcl5NlITnlWf5f5hDiTl99sBo6hebRjC2fHzLz7J65WCXe/s1600/Daiso_Singapore_haul_June_2017+%25282%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOuWPgOsqde2MB9Vgwwc6pouxmcR9UmkWnLH-_pYETzplnaW8Hiej2kXLH6vep8lS2M1CAvxOOCTL7WFJUa0absJzJKVwBIPOcl5NlITnlWf5f5hDiTl99sBo6hebRjC2fHzLz7J65WCXe/s400/Daiso_Singapore_haul_June_2017+%25282%2529.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a>1. <i>Cube case tray</i> - Small acrylic boxes that fit in nicely with a 3-part acrylic container that Daiso also sells. Will be using this for my next craft project!<br />
<br />
2. <i>Magnetic metal case </i>- Great for keeping small jewelry pieces handy, especially those I wear on an everyday basis.<br />
<br />
3. <i>Stock box 1 </i>- Great for my craft tools. Roomy to boot.<br />
<br />
4. <i>Synthetic leather bracelet </i>- Useful when you want to design your own bracelet but I'll be using it for another craft project instead. 😃<br />
<br />
5. <i>Small Japanese design coin purse </i>- Adorable and useful on it's own; but using it for a craft project, as well.<br />
<br />
6. <i>Baby wet wipe lid</i> - Any hardcore parent of a small child knows wet wipes are indispensable items when out and about. Seriously, the Daughter is now 5, but I still have a pack (or 2) in every bag I use. This lid can come in handy when the sticky seal doesn't work. From reviews I've read, this thing is reusable and actually does the job quite nicely.<br />
<br />
7. <i>Stretchable double-sided tape </i>- Bought since my adhesive utility hooks need replacing. Hoping it will work as well as the 3M kind. Keeping my fingers crossed.<br />
<br />
8. <i>Transparent double sided tape </i>- Great for craft projects! Works very well.<br />
<br />
9. <i>Medicine pill box </i>- Bought for the Daughter to use as her Barbie's luggage (don't ask. 😁).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2DGo3Lq4_ezpsx4EROmYVaqvlw49QDV9_L6prElZVmC2UVAON8EYPSrdqsSnE8Le7ZupxvHB5xsIMsorpZNMRmYA-qF7iwpeI2X92P6704QAgp_xeACy1-kWMkmLwmgBnjL8pSkmjgj83/s1600/Daiso_Singapore_haul_June_2017+%25281%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2DGo3Lq4_ezpsx4EROmYVaqvlw49QDV9_L6prElZVmC2UVAON8EYPSrdqsSnE8Le7ZupxvHB5xsIMsorpZNMRmYA-qF7iwpeI2X92P6704QAgp_xeACy1-kWMkmLwmgBnjL8pSkmjgj83/s400/Daiso_Singapore_haul_June_2017+%25281%2529.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
10. <i>Section case </i>- I used to have a similar one but with detachable compartments (not bought at Daiso), but I find they don't really do a good job in separating my small craft beads and bric-a-brac. This one from Daiso has fixed compartments and are able to hold and separate my craft pieces perfectly.<br />
<br />
11. <i>Blue cloth </i>- Also for crafting.<br />
<br />
12. <i>Disney Princess washi tape</i> - Bought for the Daughter for her craft projects (yes, she is slowly starting to take over the craft gene.)<br />
<br />
13. <i>Apple cutter </i>- The Daughter loves apples. It's all well and good, however, she prefers eating them cut into pieces. So this apple cutter comes in well and make the job easier. Only downside is, if your apple core is not in the middle, then the core doesn't really clean out smoothly.<br />
<br />
14. <i>Hello Kitty net</i> - Useful for scooping dirt out of laundry water.<br />
<br />
15. <i>Storage case for long boots </i>- Not really intending to buy this one, as I was hoping for a box of some sort to keep my boots in. But since Daiso doesn't carry one, I settled for this instead. 😃<br />
<br />
<br />
Great haul. 😃<div class="blogger-post-footer">This post is brought to you by <a href='http://www.theaveragejane00900.blogspot.com'>Tin</a> of <a href='http://www.theaveragejane00900.blogspot.com'>The Average Jane</a> blog. Singapore has a great public transport system. You don't really need to have a car here. There's bus lines and MRT stations and taxis galore! You're all set.<br />
<br />
Heck, nowadays, you can even bike (even without physically owning one)!<br />

Managed by <b><a href="https://www.o.bike/index.html" target="_blank">oBike</a></b>, a local Singapore company that offers stationless bike sharing services. You'll see them in most sidewalks, lovingly calling out to tired pedestrians.<br />
<br />
Renting one is easy as:<br />
<ol>
<li>UNLOCK(-ing) the bike by scanning the QR code of each vehicle using the <b><span style="color: blue;">oBike</span></b> app (available to download in Goggle Play or the Apple App store). The app can also help you locate the nearest <b><span style="color: blue;">oBike</span></b> cycle nearest to your location.</li>
<li>RIDE.</li>
<li>PARK and lock the bike manually to end your trip. Make sure you park them in places that would not obstruct traffic or pedestrian ways. </li>

<a name='more'></a><span style="color: blue;"><b>CoCo ICHIBANYA </b></span>is touted as the world's largest Japanese curry rice chain. Demi-glace with your choice of spiciness (5 levels, to be exact).<br />
<br />
To order, you choose your main curry course (mine is the <span style="color: blue;"><i>Pork Cutlet Curry Rice</i></span> which costs S$12.90), select the quantity of rice (which sets them quite apart form the other Japanese demi-glace curry places I've tried) and decide on the spice level (from mild to crazy hot!)<br />
<br />
You can also opt to add a topping (from egg to Wagyu beef steak - additional S$1.00 to 10), have additional curry sauce added and/or turn it in a set meal complete with salad and soup (add S$4.50).<br />

You see, like most Filipinos, my curry exposure (then) was limited to a milder local version my dad used to cook back home. It was usually with chicken, loaded with potatoes and carrots, and had runny, less spicy curry sauce.<br />
<br />
Another one was the Japanese kind. Sweet, thick demi-glace sauce that came in a convenient pack that coats each delicious meat and morsel to perfection. These 2 types where what I grew up eating. <br />
<br />
But ever since moving to Singapore and being introduced to the real, authentic kind from India by my
office mates, my palette has since changed. I eventually got used to the spiciness and have since enjoyed its rich, bold flavor. I've come to crave it so much, that I once ate a curry dish 5x a week for month! (I swear I would never find <strike>a cheap</strike> an affordable Indian restaurant back home; but here in Singapore, it's in almost every hawker centre! I'm so lovin' it!!!)<br />
<br />
But the Little Girl is (still) not a fan of spicy curry. So to slowly introduce her to it, we brought her to try the Japanese kind at <a href="http://www.monstercurry.com.sg/" target="_blank"><b>Monster Curry</b></a>. <br />

And although, she is isn't a Master Builder, she does so enjoy building and playing with those <i>Disney Princess </i>and <i>Lego Friends</i> sets (such an evil marketing ploy!!!).<br />
<br />
We have since stopped adding on to her collection and vowed never to buy her another one (<i>Lego </i>or anything remotely similar again). But when we stumbled upon this <a href="http://cra-z-artshop.com/lite-brix/" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;"><b>Lite Brix</b></span></a> set, we just couldn't resist. <br />

So what exactly is it? Developed and manufactured by the <a href="http://www.cra-z-art.com/" target="_blank"><i>Cra-Z-Art</i></a> company, <span style="color: blue;"><b>Lite Brix</b></span> functions similarly as <i>Lego</i>s. You have the blocks and you connect to form your sets/creations; but the main difference is, these bricks light up!<br />
<br />
Each set comes with it's own battery pack and 2 flat square bricks which stores the led lights. <br />

<br />
As far as I can tell, <span style="color: blue;"><b>Lite Brix</b></span> sets catered to "little girls" comes with it's own figurine. I did compare it to a <i>Lego Friends</i> figurine we have and I'll have to be honest, I still prefer <i>Lego</i>'s -- mainly because theirs looks a little less plasticky and has a fuller shape (yes, I am not a fan of stick thin type figures). READ: <i>Lego</i>'s just seem to be better made, and with detachable rubber hair!.<br />

Fried chicken cooked to perfection with crunchy skin. Pair it off with their various sides (reminiscent of <i>Kenny Roger's</i>/<i>Astons</i>) and you have yourself a complete meal -- costs on average S$7.90 a set.<br />

Not bad, if I do say so myself.<br />
<br />
My only gripe would be the kitchen staff at Marina Square. We've eaten here more than a few times already and on each occasion, our food either (1) usually takes a while to come out and/or (2) one order would almost always be wrong. Their demeanor? A bit rude.<br />

Problem is I don't like fidgeting with my fingers. It has to be with something -- a pen, my ID holder, etc. It's more than enough to keep me occupied while walking, in a meeting, or any place else I find myself thinking.<br />
<br />
And while these everyday mundane items are more than enough to meet my fidgeting needs, I crave variety. Good thing the <span style="color: blue;"><b>Fidget Cube</b></span> was invented! <br />
<br />

Six sides filled with totally different ways to fidget! Click, glide, flip, worry stone, roll and spin. There's one for each particular type of fidgeting needs.<br />

What will the these geniuses think of next? :)<div class="blogger-post-footer">This post is brought to you by <a href='http://www.theaveragejane00900.blogspot.com'>Tin</a> of <a href='http://www.theaveragejane00900.blogspot.com'>The Average Jane</a> blog. Thought they looked for adoringly unusual that I just had to buy a bag and blog about it! <br />
<br />

<br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="color: blue;"><b>Tamago Gani</b></span>, literally translated to "egg crabs" are not really crab eggs; but small, baby crustaceans. Cooked and smothered with a sweet teriyaki sesame sauce, each piece is small enough to pop into your mouth. No de-shelling required<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJUq2UOeVAsYCegBk2WkS2UwWQwgAlUXtUmVMMHS4xKv_i2c2KVUsyJ8JSSKotIw6Sn4_3oB8itSjrFthcCc4wep2fhrAHi5ZQCEjb9te7JZvowjwVvZdzpsgaQZRxO8fukQqoL3fElfyb/s1600/Tamago_Gani+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJUq2UOeVAsYCegBk2WkS2UwWQwgAlUXtUmVMMHS4xKv_i2c2KVUsyJ8JSSKotIw6Sn4_3oB8itSjrFthcCc4wep2fhrAHi5ZQCEjb9te7JZvowjwVvZdzpsgaQZRxO8fukQqoL3fElfyb/s400/Tamago_Gani+%25282%2529.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, I am no stranger to eating baby crabs whole. Fry them up and dip them in vinegar; they actually make good appetizers/meal. However, one bite of <span style="color: blue;"><b>Tamago Gani</b></span> and I can tell you, it is an acquired taste.<br />
<br />
The flavored coating itself was great. Sticky sweet with a bit of the salty crab taste to compliment it well. But what put me off is the fact that, instead of edible soft shell, I bit into pieces with hard shell coverings. It felt like chewing egg shells (hope I didn't damage my teeth).<br />
<br />
A big no; but a definite yes for a blog post. :D <div class="blogger-post-footer">This post is brought to you by <a href='http://www.theaveragejane00900.blogspot.com'>Tin</a> of <a href='http://www.theaveragejane00900.blogspot.com'>The Average Jane</a> blog.
