Testimony by Anita Shreve

After my bout with A.S. Byatt's The Children's Book (read my full review here), it was actually quite refreshing to be, once again, reading a novel with a more decipherable plot.

Hello Kitty Glasses from Mini (A Singapore Shopping Trip Post)

I've never been the adventurous type when it came to clothing.  Having learned early on the value of classic pieces, plus the fact that my frame wouldn't look too well in some of the more recent fashion trends, I decided to simply spend my hard-earned moolah on clothes that fit my body type.

Accessories are, however, a different matter altogether.  I love all kinds and was even sporting one-of-a-kind hip pieces during my younger (read: teenage) years.

Age and time do bring in their toll and I find my choices of trinkets veering more on age appropriate styles and trends.  But I'm seriously thinking of breaking off this habit for this -- a pair of Hello Kitty glasses!

PR: Small-town Locals of Butuan Build “Court of Inspiration”

Through these projects, the campaign aims to give members of communities in different parts of our country pride in having personally built something that doesn’t just hone their skills, but builds their character as well.

“I was impressed at people’s willingness to jump at the opportunity to serve their community at our project in Butuan and I believe I’d witness the same level of enthusiasm in the communities where succeeding Courts of Inspiration are to be built,” says Kristine Martinez, Alaxan FR Product Director.

Driven by the desire to provide their community with its first real basketball court, locals from Barangay Ampayon in Butuan are brought together to build their own “Court of Inspiration” under the Aray Natin, Galing Natin campaign -- a collaborative effort between small-town locals and Alaxan FR to construct these symbols of community and turn them into something that moves people to aim for greatness.

Eyebrow Grooming with Vivid® LED Tweezers

I've always had my eyebrows threaded when I was still in the Philippines.  Yes, it is painful (view my post about it here) but it saves me so much time and effort in grooming them.  In fact, I've gotten so used to having it done that I find my brows are itchy for a session at least once a month.

But now that I am here in Singapore, I don't exactly have that luxury anymore specifically because I have yet to find an establishment that offer these services at an affordable rate (I'm leaning towards Strip: Ministry of Waxing but my goodness!  They charge an arm and a leg -- read: almost S$30/Php900 -- for a session.  Not in the budget for now since milk and diapers for the Little One are more important than groomed brows.)  Aside from that, I won't just go to any old hole-in-the-wall, mind you.  Mahirap na.  I might end up looking like a manang (old woman.)  L

So what to do in times like these?  Well nowadays, my pair of Vivid® LED Tweezers is my saviour.

The Little One Goes Retro at Mel's Drive-In, Universal Studios Singapore (Part 3 of 3)

The rockin' 50s.  What's not to love?  The fashion was outta sight.  The music's so catchy.  And best of all, the food's a classic!  It's no wonder various establishments and products are still being made that are influenced, in one way of another, by this nostalgic period.

In fact, one of the most eye-catching restaurants at Universal Studios Singapore is highly inspired by this wonderful decade -- Mel's Drive-In.

The Children's Book by A.S. Byatt

One confusing and heavy read that left me feeling so unsatisfied, and wanting answers to all the hanging questions and conflicts the book did not address, is The Children's Book by A.S. Byatt.
