Believe it or not, what first drew me to Sentro 1771 (way back in 2008) was because of my desire for corned beef. And not just any plain corned beef, mind you. It was their famous Corned Beef Sinigang that had me a-visiting their Greenbelt branch one fine, workday evening.

Corned Beef in Sinigang?! I hear you. It may sound slightly weird, but believe me, it's a combination that works. No canned corned beef used here, folks. Since then, I've since had the pleasure of trying that particular dish at least 5 times now.
But aside from their Corned Beef Sinigang, there are other things that also make a visit to Sentro 1771 well worth it.
First on the list is their Lamb Caldereta (Php 480 for a solo serving). Tender Australian boneless lamb shoulder stewed in a slightly spicy and savory tomato-based broth. Carrots and bell peppers add to the already succulent flavors.

Next off, we have Sentro 1771's Crispy Pork Ribs (Php440 solo). Deep-fried baby back ribs served with a sweet and slightly spicy guava-based sauce on the side. Definitely a dish best eaten with your hands.

The restaurant also offers a wide selection of seafood-based dishes. Like their Bangus Belly Tocho (Php380 solo). Bangus belly cooked with black beans, tofu, and tomatoes with a dash of vinegar and soy sauce. It isn't really much to look at (I, for one, thought it was just plain old sardines), but believe me, it's tastes quite far from it.

Or maybe I'm just a little bit biased here as I sure do love bangus belly! The sauce gives it a slightly sour and salty taste.
And who could ever forget ordering the crowd (our crowd, anyway J) favorite, Sago't Gulaman (Php110). Good thing it comes in unlimited servings. And in this scorching hot Philippine summer, it's just what the doctor ordered.

Old favorites with a modern twist. Don't you just love how Filipino cuisine just keeps on evolving? J
