Daiso Singapore's Umaiwa Takoyaki

GIVEAWAY ALERT!  Get a chance to win travel-sized Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries from their Avocado, Olive & Basil collection.  Visit this post (link here) for more details.

Hay... Daiso...  Why do you have so many interesting stuff to buy?  Why just recently the Husband discovered this in one of your shelves.

A bag of Umaiwa Takoyaki corn snack rings

To be perfectly honest, I don't usually buy food stuff from our locally based Daiso stores, mainly because I could not understand the Japanese characters in each package.  For all I know, I would have been eating a totally gross item with me none the wiser (thinking about it, it might actually be a nice gastronomic adventure too, don't you think?)

But I digress.  These here are Umaiwa Takoyaki snack rings, a type of puffy corn snack with a Takoyaki twist.

Ringed snack

Tastes just like a Takoyaki ball would at first bite, with a slight hint of sweetness.  It's tasty, but leaves a really fishy smell on the fingers.

Would it replace the real thing?  Probably not, but it would most probably keep you satisfied til your next Takoyaki fix.

Available in Daiso Singapore shops island-wide for S$2.00 (Php66.00*).

  1. I ashamed to admit it, but I have never eaten Takoyaki balls! I always see them in the malls, but have never ventured to try them. Looks yummy, and is a quick fix for those hunger pangs.

  2. What you don't know won't kill you. :-) Nah just kidding. Hehe.

I also don't buy stuffs from local Daiso, not because I'm afraid of Japanese letters, but because I'm a penny-pincher. ;-)

  4. I love Daiso! :D Whenever I visit their stores, there's no way I'd leave without buying anything. I haven't seen these takoyaki snack rings in Daiso stores here in Manila, but I'll look for it on my next trip~ :)
