My Story by Dave Pelzer

I chanced upon a simple white book one fine, sunny afternoon in Fully Booked High Street.  Itching for a new novel to read, I handled over my payment and brought this seemingly harmless tome home.  Little did I know that the story contained within would greatly leave me disturbed and reeling from the injustice of child abuse.

My Story by Dave Pelzer

Dave Pelzer is the bestseller author of 3 autobiographical books (A Child Called "It", The Lost Boy, and A Man Named Dave) which details his physically abusive childhood past, at the hands of his mother no less, and the ways of which he overcame all obstacles to become the responsible and stable adult he is now.  My Story is actually a compilation of all 3 of his novels (you can read the full summary at Amazon.com.)

It's amazing how the human spirit can overcome various obstacles, even after something as severely damaging as childhood abuse.  Lots of studies show that physically abused kids, more often than not, grow up to become just as abusive and angry as their tormentors were.

This is not the case with Dave Pelzer, who is now a well-known bestselling self-help author.  How he was able to overcome his abusive past and finally let go of some of his anger is an amazing, inspiring story that he details in his 3 novels.  A definite must-read for adults who have ever felt angry for the injustices that the world has dealt them with.
