Magnum Minis sold in Singapore |
And before you even think about it, no, hindi po ako huli sa balita.
I am well-aware of the whole Magnum craze in the Philippines but have decided to opt out from writing about it since a LOT (and I do mean, a lot) of people have professed their undying love to it online already.
BUT this post is focused on a different angle on the whole Magnum craze. Something that I believe have not yet reached our shores.
I've been seeing the Magnum ice cream bars here in Singapore for quite a while, way before it even became available in the Philippines. Case in point. Most major supermarkets and grocery stores here carry boxes of both the regular sized bars and these cute, slightly smaller ones called "Magnum Minis."
A box of minis (S$10.90 or approximately Php330*) contains 6 bars -- 2 each for a certain flavor (making it 3 available variants in a pack.) And believe me, there are plenty to choose from. There's mint and dark chocolate. They even have liqueur infused ones like limoncello and irish creme (for adults only please.)
Of the flavors I've tried so far (I've had double caramel and gold already aside from the usual flavors we have in the Philippines), Magnum White is, by far, my favorite.

Why? I have only 3 words for you... Toblerone's White Chocolate.
Yes folks. It tastes surprisingly like a white toblerone chocolate bar. In ice cream form, of course. One of my faves candies! Yummy!
It's so good and so rich, my diet is simply ruined everytime Hubby brings home a box. Now if only there was a way to eat sweets without gaining an ounce of fat, then I'll be one happy lil girl. J

ReplyDeleteHaven't really tried Magnum. EVER.
ReplyDeleteIt's ok. It's ice cream. And I will give credit where it is due naman. It's good. But I really haven't encountered an IC I didn't like anyway. Hehehe! =D
DeleteI haven't tried MAgnum but Im sure its pretty addicting!. hahah I so love ice creams.
ReplyDeleteInternationally, I've also seen how there really are a LOT of other flavors. I'm actually dying to try the double caramel :>
ReplyDeleteDouble caramel's too sweet for me. The gold is something I just can't understand here. I mean, it's caramel then they coated the thing in gold powders of coloring or something. Didn't like it much. =(
Deletewow! gusto ko niyan. so far ang favorite ko yung may almond.
ReplyDeleteI only tried Magnum once when I was living in SG. I wish I had known about the white chocolate flavor.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love caramel and mint. And may Magnum with that flavor in SG.
ReplyDeletePwede ba yan ipadala dito sa PHL? :)
Uhmmm...mahirap yata e. Hehehe! =D
DeleteHindi ko pa natitikman 'yang Magnum kahit kailan. Namamahalan ako eh. He he. Kuripot much.
ReplyDeleteyum! I hope they release white in the Philippines too. hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI've loved Magnum even before the hype. It's the cheap-er alternative to HD. I wonder what made Selecta suddenly push this product...
ReplyDeleteRizza (beingwell)
i want to try the minis but dang the sugar...i gotta diet hehe
ReplyDeleteoh, magnum is really popular anywhere. I hope I can taste that white ice cream bar.
ReplyDeleteMagnum Ice cream? How does it taste compare to other known Ice Cream brands? I've not tasted it yet here in the PH.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd be the best judge as an ice cream is an ice cream for me. I can't tell the difference. Hehehe! =)
DeleteThis is better and more friendly to the diet :) Sana magkaroon na rin dati (but not that expensive sana!)
ReplyDeleteIf only mosquitos sucks fats instead of blood, magpapakagat ako sa pinamalaking lamok :)
ReplyDeleteHmm.. Kelan kaya yan makakarating dito?
Pangarap ko rin yan, Em! =)
DeleteI guess you love the white Choco Flavors. You might also love selecta Cornetto in white chocolate. I love it a lot. I find magnum ice cream too sweet for me. But I haven't tasted the magnum mini or the white variants as I haven't seen one here in the Phils.
ReplyDeleteThat just made my mouth water. I'll note of this so I can try them when I go to SG. Hopefully, I get to SG before these flavors reach RP! Hahaha.

ReplyDeleteMAGNUM = Fantastic marketing strategy haha. I also got caught up with the craze!
ReplyDeleteBut wow, Toblerone white??? THAT I've gotta try!
Huwaw gusto ko nyang magnum white!Sawa nako sa flavors dito sa pinas. sana namn magdagdag sila.
ReplyDeleteI never tried any magnum flavor na sobrang nagustuhan ko. 'Ok lang' sya. And I wonder why there seems to be a worldwide (of sorts) craze for it.
ReplyDeleteNow that you posted this, naisip ko, baka may flavor na ok. :P
I'm almost too embarrassed to admit that I have yet to try Magnum. I guess, it's because I'm not one to jump into the bandwagon :). Maybe after all the hype has died down, then I'll have my first bite of that yummy delight.
ReplyDeleteI hope my boyfriend never finds out about this - he loves Magnum and he might book a trip to Singapore if he finds out there are other Magnum flavors there! Hehe!
ReplyDeletei have once tried magnum, that was way after the craze. :)
ReplyDeletei want to try that white mini cream. i don't know because it looks cute because of its size, or i wanted to try the taste. :)
either way, i gotta try that!
haven't tried the almond pa, i like their chocolate truffle, but something i won't crave for hehe
ReplyDeleteI want to try the Caramel flavor! I've heard about these flavors from friends in SG, and I wish they'd bring some of the other flavors here too.
