Making Homemade Yogurt is as Easi(Yo) as 1 - 2 - 3

Our family loves yogurt.  We've been having this healthy treat for years now.  And although not a lot of people appreciate it's slightly tart taste, it's something we've come to love and savor, mostly enjoyed as a great after dinner dessert.

So when I found out I won an EasiYo real yogurt maker (plus a real yogurt base and culture mix of my choosing) from Pepper.ph and Cambert Philippines (the brand's exclusive distributor in the Philippines), I was more than ecstatic!

EasiYo yogurt maker and base mix

The people behind EasiYo believe that the fresher the yogurt, the better it is since, in order to enjoy it's full benefits, the cultures in this delicate treat should still be live when eaten.  But since these cultures only last for a few days, the best way to ensure that you get the healthiest, and tastiest, serving is to imbibe it immediately after it sets.

And with the EasiYo system (using their yogurt maker and real yogurt base and culture mix), preparing the freshest yogurt ever at home is as simple as 1 - 2 -3.

1. Fill half of the yogurt jar with cool drinking water (I find that room temperature water works best).  Drop one packet of EasiYo's real yogurt base and culture mix (available at major supermarkets for Php260 a packet -- standard flavors only).

Add the mix...

Close the lid and shake contents till thoroughly mixed (you can also opt to add 2 to 4 tablespoons of sugar for a sweeter blend).  Top up jar with more water shake again .

2. Insert and push the red baffle down inside the yogurt maker.  Pour boiling water up to the top of the red baffle only.

3. Place yogurt jar inside the maker.  Close the white lid and set aside for a minimum of 10-12 hours or leave overnight (the latter works best) until set.

Almost done

Remove the yogurt jar and place it inside refrigerator to cool.  (Please visit the EasiYo website for more detailed instructions.)

EasiYo yogurt is best served chilled, with fruits.  In our case, we love sliced fresh bananas with our treat.

  1. Uy this is good ha. Is it easily available? I'm a yogurt person kasi. But sometimes, I hesitate stocking up because it might get spoiled if I don't consume it right away.

At least this one, you can actually store.

  2. I've made a promise to myself to eat healthier, so this is definitely right up my alley. Is it dairy, though? I'm trying to steer clear of dairy products, and am looking for alternatives.
