Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition @ ArtScience Museum, Singapore

Singapore may be known as a shopper's paradise, what with almost every luxury brand all well seen and accounted for here, but personally, the best places to be here in the Lion City are in their wonderful museums.  The ex-fiancee (now hubby) knew this well enough that every time I visited him here (well before we were married), we'd usually squeeze in a visit to at least one.

And their exhibitions are simply amazing!  Take, for instance, the most recently concluded 6-month long Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition held at the ArtScience Museum.

Ministry of Food (MOF) の Japanese Sweets & Coffee (A Singapore Food Post)

The great thing about being in a whole new environment is experiencing a lot of things for the first time.  Food definitely included.

So for my very first Singapore-based food-related post, I present Ministry of Food (MOF) の Japanese Sweets & Coffee.

Getting Around Singapore

NOTE: I'm back!  Thank you all for understanding.  Anyway, as they say, on with the show... J

Hay!  The life of a Filipino in a foreign country.  Very sad and I'm dreadfully suffering from a major case of homesickness, but you've gotta move on, right?

Anyway, I wanted to do this very quick post on how to get around Singapore before anything else since I figure this would be extremely useful for a lot of our kababayans (countrymen) who will be visiting the Lion City soon.  Plus, it will make a quick reference point for all the future entries I'll be posting about, too.

(Please note, though, that this and all my other succeeding posts about Singapore and life here are based on a foreigner's -- a.k.a little old me -- experiences.  And since I am still fairly new here, I may misunderstand some customs and rules but will definitely edit any future posts for corrections, if any are found.  J)

Ok so on to our regular programming...

The Average Jane will Get Back to you Shortly...

I just received word from my mom in Manila that a dear tita (aunt) just passed away a few minutes ago.  She leaves behind a husband and 2 kids (one of whom is a teenager with special needs.)

It is indeed a very sad time for our family but still there is joy in our hearts for now she is at peace and is no longer suffering (she lost the good fight to breast cancer.  Has been fighting off the disease for years now.)

I recently started writing an entry with a more happier tune but did not feel right about posting it right away.  So in respect to my tita, her family and also to members of our clan, The Average Jane blog will be silent for a few days in order to give us some time to reminisce, remember and honor her.

I will be back again in a few days.  Hoping for your understanding and patience.  Thank you.  L

***

Rest in peace, Tita Chappy.  You will be sorely missed.  Thank you for being such a kind tita even if I wasn't the best niece.  We will miss and love you always... L
May the Lord bless you and keep you...

The Best of Archie Comics

My love of reading actually started because of a man.  A special guy who made me laugh, made me think, and kept me up late most nights, more so during summer breaks.

An American who lives in a tiny town called Riverdale.  And although there was no internet when I first met him, it seems like I knew him so well that almost every aspect of his life has been ingrained into my memory.

Oh!  And did I mention that, technically, he isn't even real?
