Yes! Its Another Barbecued Chicken Entry: Reyes Barbecue

I told you I love barbecued chicken!  So it should come as no surprise that I would feature Reyes Barbecue in a post.  It was only a matter of time anyway.  =)

Your Friendly Mang Inasal Eatery

There is not one person I know that has not eaten at a Mang Inasal establishment.  Quite understandable since they provide great food at such an affordable price!

In the Spirit of Lent

The Average Jane joins our nation in honoring the spirit of Lent.  This is a good time to reflect on our sins and be thankful for the sacrifices Jesus made for us on the cross.

In the spirit of this season, I'd like to share with you one of my favorite favorite poems that I received from one of my very dear friends, Khyme.

A Different Kind of Kenny Rogers Dining Experience: Kenny's Roast & Grill

Kenny Roger's Roasters is a staple in almost all major shopping malls here in the Metro.  With their usual servings of roasted meats plus mouth-watering sides served in a fast food format, you can bet their stores are always filled to maximum capacity during lunch and dinner services.

But bet you haven't heard of a new concept they have in place at Power Plant Mall?

While the family was strolling along Rockwell center, we came across Kenny's Roast & Grill, a more upscale version of Kenny Roger's Roasters.  Being the curious cats that we were, the family decided to have lunch here.

REVIEW: Feeling Nostalgic at Ya Kun Kaya Toast

I am on a mission…

A mission sort of personal and nostalgic in nature…

My quest?

To find out if the kaya toast being served in Pasig is the real deal…

My weapon of choice?

An empty stomach and photos of the subject from the original Singapore brand. (sorry, my James Bond-esque car is in the shop for repairs.)

FAB FINDS @ SimpleJoys

Another concept store from the people who bought you Regalong Pambahay and EGG [exciting gifts + goodies], this time carrying various hair, jewelry and other fashion accessories -- I present Simplejoys!

FAB FINDS @ EGG [exciting gifts + goodies]

I so LOVE the store EGG [exciting gifts + goodies].  And who doesn't?  Blending unique, crafty treasures with timeless, elegant pieces, this is truly a must-go store for me every time I find myself in a mall carrying a branch of theirs.

Amy Tan's Saving Fish from Drowning

I've been a huge fan of Amy Tan ever since reading a copy of her Joy Luck Club.  I then proceeded to collect all her other books and have been a loyal follower since.

After a brief hiatus, she comes out with Saving Fish from Drowning.

FAB FIND: AHA SLR Camera Bag

I mentioned in an earlier post that I was very fortunate enough to have won a Sony DSLR camera from AXN Asia!  Wooohooo!!!

And like all other photograghers, I too have been bitten by the bug -- the security bug that is -- in the quest to protect my new baby from the harsh elements.  But mind you, I didn't want just any ordinary boring black camera bag (I swear this is such a musculine world we live in).  I wanted pizzazz!  I wanted color!  And I wanted one with a zipper!

Many a weekend found me in various malls searching for a bag that would fit my needs and preferences.  I never could find one that caught my eye until I came across this!

The aha DSLR camera bag!

Breakfast Fare at Floating Island Restaurant

Being a true blue Pinoy, I've always had a fondness for anything "insert possible viand here"-silog.  And I am definitely not alone in this sentiment.  Breakfast simply isn't complete without it.

I used to forgo breakfast a lot when I was still working, usually opting for a large steaming mug of joe at the office to perk me up before that start of another hectic day.  I know it's a bad habit but I was living alone that time and well, eating solo at the dining room table didn't sound too appealing to me.

So any chance I had to grab a bite with my mom during a regular workday is a definite treat.  And one such workday did find us in Makati Medical Center (MMC) early morning catching a bite to eat before heading to my medical appointment.

Good thing though, as we have discovered Floating Island Restaurant, located at the new annex wing of MMC.

STYLE FOR LESS: Kipling's New Rita Bag vs. Landmark’s Esport

REVIEW: Max’s Restaurant Still Sarap to the Bones

REVIEW: Eating Fire and Drinking Water by Arlene Chai

Arlene Chai, a well-known Australian-based writer of Filipino descent, came out with her second novel, Eating Fire and Drinking Water in the late 1990s.

Having read her other work, The Last Time I Saw Mother, which I so genuinely enjoyed, I eagerly picked this one up and set about savoring my new found find.

Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield as 27 Year Olds? Impossible!

Most women my age (around the late 20s and 30s), carry such fond memories of an idealic place known as Sweet Valleyin California, where twin sisters Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield and their tight knit group of family and friends, live and experience the everyday dramas of teenage life.
